The Catskills are not terribly far from where I grew up, but I have no memories of ever going there as a kid. Hiking in that area is great fun. Here are some photos to prove it, including Awosting Falls, Lake Minnewaska, and obligatory small critter and flower pix. I believe the butterfly may be an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
I sat down next to a fully grown Southeast Asian Tiger and petted it. Actually, I did that with four different tigers. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t something anyone would do casually. That said, if I had thought about it for much longer, I probably wouldn’t have done it.
On Tuesday, I’ll arrive at my local elementary school before 5 a.m., which is a major undertaking for a morning-challenged person.
