All that water! I haven’t been to Niagara Falls since I was a kid. I’m going back for World Fantasy Convention.

Friday the 13th is an easy day to remember for my talk at the Philly Science Fiction Society. I’m not superstitious. Not me!
Two weeks ago, I got the fabulous news that my Analog novelette, “Apollo in Retrograde” won the Sidewise Award for alternate history. People have been asking me what is next.
“Getting ready to announce now.” That was the DM I received from my writing buddy sitting in the audience when the winners of the Sidewise Award for Alternate History were about to be announced. What seemed like an eternity later, she texted, “And it’s you!!!!” To which I responded eloquently: “What?!!!”
Gosh I wish I could be at this author’s reading on Aug. 8. If you are in the NYC area, it’s a great place to listen to some fine writers reading their own works.
I’ve had a deep love for alternate history even before my days as an archaeologist. It goes back to when I first read about the Punic Wars and rooted for Carthage to prevail over Rome.
I am astounded to learn that my novelette “Apollo in Retrograde” placed second in the Analog magazine readers’ awards in its category for 2023. Such an honor!
A fresh batch of reviews of books by M. V. Melcer, Seth Dickinson, Tobias Buckell, Premee Mohamed, Ray Naylor, and Naomi Kritzer
It’s Springtime around here, a time when a writer’s thoughts turn to the ferocious allosauruses of the Jurassic.
